Teacher interview skills is led by Graeme Rough, Director of Saturday School.

Graeme is also Head of STEM Programmes at SSERC and has many years of teaching/education experience.  During his time as Faculty Head of Science at Wallace High School, he led the NQT interview training programme, every year, supporting new teachers through the interview process via a series of teacher workshops and CPD sessions.  He has extensive experience in teacher recruitment and has sat on many interview panels, for a range of posts.

Graeme has enlisted the support and expertise of many colleagues and friends in education to help build this course and his expert guests offer priceless insight to help fully understand the process and expectations on interviewees.

"Over the years, I've asked many interview questions to many candidates, and most of them are questions I've written myself or as part of a panel.  I love working in education for so many reasons and supporting people through the interview process always seems to build a professional and emotional investment in people for me.  Teacher interviews are daunting and they are an art, that's why I'm always rooting for them come the big day!"

I didn't have a great deal of support from my own school or local authority, so I came on this course.  Graeme taught me every single aspect of interivews from scratch - I had no clue how to structure answers, the balloon method is the main takeaway for me, it kept me calm and is one of the reasons why I got the job I went for.  Since the course, I've gone for an international teaching post and got that job too!

Natasha, Biology Teacher

I was going for a PT post in my school, with a lot of external applicants to complete with.  Graeme helped me list, categorise and strucutre all of my skills, qualities and experience into answers which showed the panel exactly who I am and what I can offer.  This is more of a coaching and mentoring style course which helps as he makes it all much less daunting that it actually is.  And, I got the job!

Debbie, Principal Teacher ASN

I wasn't at all confident in my interview skills and it was always my nerves that took the better of me.  I had a mock interview in my school either side of this course and in the second one my PT said she was blown away.  Everyone will talk about the balloon method which is fab, but it's more than that, they explain everything to expect, the  policies to disucss, the structure and flow too.  The guest HT was wonderful and he told us exaclty what he looks for too which was so valuable.
